AMBLE HIGH STREET NU 2604 (North side, off) 13/50 Hallbank Well 1.6.49 II
Wellhead. Medieval in origin although the exposed fabric is C18 and C19. Squared stone except for brick vault to cistern. Partly-subterranean cistern has 1-metre high end wall with square grilled opening and stone steps alongside; adjacent low walls are remains of flushing tank. Interior of cistern 5.6 x 3.1 metres has later C19 segmental brick vault.
Included for local historical interest.
