Details
YANWORTH STOWELL PARK SP Ol NE 7/107 The Stableblock GV II Stableblock and domestic accommodaton. Late C19, probably by Sir John Belcher. Limestone rubble, stone slate roof, C20 stone stacks. Plan; 4-sided courtyard with domestic accommodation at front. Entrance front; 1 1/2 storeys with central double doors within moulded basket-headed surround with stopped hood, continued over panelled door left. Four-light stone-mullioned window and gable over. Small 2-light stone-mullioned casements and 3-light stone-mullioned casements with transoms either side. Relieving arches over all openings in entrance front. Six 2-light roof dormers lighting attic. Intersecting barrel vault within entrance passage. Colonnade of circular stone built piers with moulded capitals runs along rear wall of entrance front. Panelled door within round-headed surround with keystone opposite main entrance. Stable doors on three sides of courtyard. Axial stacks. Tile- hung clock turret with pyramidal open-sided lantern at rear right- hand corner.
