SY 68 NW WINTERBORNE ST MARTIN MAIN ROAD (north side) 4/119 Stone Cottage 26.1.56 II GV
Detached cottage. Late C16, extended to west in mid C17. Dressed stone walls. Thatch roof with gable ends. Stone stack at left hand end gable, brick stack at right end, gable. Two storeys. 4 windows, originally 3. Diagonal fenestration of 3 light hollow chamfered stone mullions, upper floor has 3 light wood casements with glazing bars, wood cills, C19 and C20. C17 extension of house to west has 2 light ovolo moulded stone mullions. Front door at original centre, now right of centre, flush panelled and glazed, C20. Stone porch with gabled stone slab roof, stone gable coping, entrance with 4 centred head. Short rear range added mid C17, thatched. 1½ storeys. One window, upper floor has 3 light iron casements with lead lights. Later C19 brick extension is not of special interest. Interior: muntin-and-plank partition (RCHM). (R.C.H.M.
