WALLINGTON DEMESNE MIDDLETON NZ 08 SE NZ 059843 14/199 Middleton Mill and Miller's House II Mill and Miller's house, mid C18, upper storey of mill added and cottage extended C19. Squared stone, tooled in C19 parts, slate roofs. West front: mill 3 storeys, 3 irregular bays. Opening for head race at foot of wall, part-slatted windows to upper floors, except for late C19 sash on 1st floor left. Right gable coped with moulded kneelers; stepped and corniced left end stack. Cottage to left: 1 storey, 3 bays. Central renewed door; late C19 sash with slightly projecting sill to left; upper window to right in old chamfered surround. Left gable has reverse-stepped coping with stepped and corniced stack. To far left lower one-bay extension with late C19 sash;and coped left gable with moulded kneelers carrying stepped and corniced stack. Rear elevation of mill: stone external stair to boarded door; to right a boarded door with chamfered surround and incised dates 1762, 1767 on jambs. Outshut to rear of cottage not of interest.
