9/202 Bridge and attached pair of lodges Moat House
GV II
Bridge over moat and attached pair of lodges. Inscription on bridge 'CAST AT COALBROOKDALE 1851'. Lodges probably of the same date. Bridge; cast iron. Lodges; blue lias with limestone dressings. Bridge with serpent-like circular decoration in the spandrels. Cast-iron railing with anthemion decoration at the top of each baluster. Pair of lodges both on the north side of the moat. Square, single unit plan to both lodges. Blocked 2-light stone-mullioned windows with hoods at the front of each. Similar blocked stone-mullioned windows in rear walls over the moat. Original studded plank doors set within double-chamfered limestone surrounds. Projecting stack (without a shaft) to the left-hand lodge. Moulded cornice with a battlemented parapet. Interiors not inspected.
