11/155 Priors Cleve, (formerly listed 11.7.51 as "Cleave Priors")

GV II

Detached house. Early - mid C17 - enlarged mid C20. Rubble stone walls, stone slate roof with coped gables. Brick end stacks. Original front range with 2 attached rear ranges forming square plan. 2 storeys. East (original entrance) front has porch with a 2-light stone mullioned window replacing door. Ground floor has two 3-light stone mullioned windows with lead lights, and hoodmoulds. First floor has 2 similar windows. Flanking the porch, timber ionic pilasters extending to eaves level. Present entrance with re-used door in north wall of rear wing - this extended to west in C20 in matching style. Internally, one ground floor room in main range has large open fireplace with curved timber lintel. Some deep chamfered ceiling beams. Staircase incorporates C17 turned balusters and renewals. Interior somewhat altered, with some re-set features. (RCHM Monument 8. Dorset. Vol. I)
