ST 89 SW BOXWELL WITH BOXWELL ROAD LEIGHTERTON (west side) 1/4 Boxwell Farmhouse

GV II

Detached farmhouse. Early C19. Coursed rubble limestone; ashlar dressings and chimneys; stone slate roof. Two-storey with attic; 2-storey rear wing to form L-plan. Front: 5 windows with central doorway having glazed door and mid C19 parapet-gabled porch with 4-centred archway and single-light porch side windows. All windows are 2-light chamfered mullioned with C20 timber casements; continuous hoodmould to ground floor. Three hipped roofed dormers with small-paned casements. Ashlar chimney with moulded cap to each gable end. Assorted and scattered fenestration to north side of wing: two 3-light mullioned windows to ground floor under single hoodmould; two 2-light above. C20 stone staircase to right to C20 glazed upper floor door. South gable end: off- centre C20 two-light mullioned casement to each floor. Interior not inspected. Forms part of group around large farmyard with barns to north and north west (q.v.).
