SEATON DELAVAL A 190 NZ 37 NW (North side) The Avenue 5/75 Obelisk base in the Avenue, on east of road to New Hartley II Obelisk base, C18. Squared stone. Square structure with chamfered and moulded plinths and moulded cap, present height c.4 metres. The obelisk reputedly marks the spot where Admiral George Delaval suffered a fatal fall whilst riding on June 22nd 1723.
