NU 2406 WARKWORTH BRIDGE STREET (East side)
21/243 Garden wall to north of Emberside and Elm Houses GV II
Garden wall, probably early C19. Brick with pairs of headers and stretchers every 4th course; rear face squared rubble; cut dressings. Wall 4 metres high with flat stone coping. Back lane goes through round arch with alternating- block jambs and brick voussoirs. West end of wall joins No. 8 Bridge Street (q.v.).
Historical note: this was the north wall of the former garden of Warkworth House (now Warkworth House Hotel, q.v.).
Attached late C20 Emberside House near west end, and east part of wall attached to and beyond Elm House, are not of special interest.
