GV II*
House, incorporating control tower of fort c.1917. Tower concrete. Octagonal
tower with battered sides and small windows below slightly-overhanging parapet.
The tower carried the rangefinders for Robert's Battery, the northern of the two
Tyne Turrets, which was situated c.250 metres to the north-north-east. The battery
was constructed in 1917 and dismantled in 1924.
Listed for historical interest; the later C20 additions around the lower part
of the tower, making up the greater part of the house, are not of special interest.
