16/197 Davine, Petrela and The Forge (formerly 26.1.56 listed as Range of 3 Cottages 20 yards SW of Parish Hall

GV II

Block of 3 cottages. Late C18-early C19. Plastered cob walls, thatched roofs, hipped at right end. One brick stack at left end, one near centre. 2 storeys. Davine, at left end, and Petrela, possibly originally one cottage. Davine has a 2-storeyed rear wing in matching construction. Entrance in left gable wall. Petrela has gabled tiled porch, with weatherboarding in gable. In front wall, these 2 cottages have 4 casements with glazing bars on each floor. The Forge, at right end has flush panel door. Ground floor has 2 sashes with glazing bars. 4 similar sashes on first floor. At right end, a 2-storeyed rear extension, of brick with thatched roof, also a single storey lean-to with corrugated sheet roof. (RCHM Monument 11. Dorset Vol II).
