14/190 West lodge to Matfen Hall

GV II

Lodge. c.1830, probably by Rickman for Sir Edward Blackett. Ashlar with slate roof and wooden bargeboards. Tudor style. L-plan. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Projecting cross-gabled right bay has canted bay window on ground floor with small-paned casements in double-chamfered surrounds. Stone slate pent roof. Other windows are of 2 lights in similar surrounds. Left bay 1st floor window is a gabled half dormer.

Steeply-pitched gabled roof with elaborate bargeboards and tall square quadripartite ridge stack.

C20 door on left return.

C20 addition to rear not of special interest.
