WHITTINGHAM ROAD TO CALLALY NU 0611-0711 (North side) Whittingham Village 25/122 Northumbria Police Expedition Centre

GV II

Former police station and police house, now a police youth expedition centre. 1859. Ashlar with graduated Lakeland slate roof. Tudor style. 2-storey, front block with 2 parallel rear wings.

First floor string. On ground floor 4 bays. In outer bays 6-panel doors with overlights in recessed multi-moulded surrounds with hoodmoulds. Between these 3-light mullioned windows with stop-chamfered surrounds. On 1st floor 2 similar gabled half-dormer windows.

Moulded stone brackets support stone guttering. Gabled roof with flat coping and gabled kneelers. Fleur-de-lys finial on left gable, corniced end stack on right gable.
