Details
OTTERBURN OVERACRES NY 99 SW 26/52 Gatepiers, garden 10.11.51 walls, railings and sundial, c.30 yards south of Overacres GV II*
Gatepiers with flanking walls, railings and end pier with sundial. 1720 possibly re-set, for the Howards of Redesdale.
Tall, rusticated corniced piers with the Howard crest set in foliage trails below the friezes. Friezes each have a wild-man mask flanked by rosettes. Large urns with festoons, swags and heads, capped by pineapple finials. On the inner face of each pier the date MDCCXX in a moulded panel.
Flanked by short walls c.3ft high with corniced coping and simple spiked railings.
To left a square, corniced end pier, bearing a multi-faceted sundial on a Corinthian capital and with a ball finial.
