Details

BERROW CP B 4208 SO 73 NE 4/16 Rye Court Farmhouse GV II

House: C17 and late C18 with C19 alterations. Timber-framing and brick with tile roof. Two storeys. Main part of east facade has two C19 square bay windows on the ground floor: On the first floor are two sashed windows with glazing bars, with gauged brick heads and keystones. The right-hand keystone is inscribed: "1775". Door between bays under iron lattice porch with lead roof. Adjoining to the right is a bay which has sashed windows with glazing bars and segmental heads. Set back at the right is a gabled wing of exposed framing in square panels. It has a sashed window with glazing bars on each floor. The exposed truss has a tie-beam and two collars. Above the tie-beam are struts with herringbone bracing. Chimneys on left- hand wall of wing, to right of wing forward of ridge and on ridge to right of bay window. Interior: not accessible at time of survey (tray 1986).
