8/183 The Mill House GV II
Former mill and miller's house. C16, C17-early C18 and C18-early C19, restored and altered early 1960s. Coursed squared and dressed limestone, stone slate roof, stone stacks. C16 gabled range projects left from long C17 range with asymmetrical gable to left. Gable, left has flat chamfered plinth. C16 range; flat- chamfered plinth, similar flat-chamfered course between ground and first floor windows. Two storeys and attic, 6-light hollow- moulded, round-headed windows with carved spandrels and central king mullion to ground floor, similar 4-light window with central king mullion to first floor, 3-light window also with round-headed lights (probaby C20) towards apex of gable. C20 studded plank door within basket-headed surround in right-hand wall of projecting gable. C17 range; 2 storeys and attic lit by two C20 two-light eaves dormers with hung tile at front and sides and three C20 skylights. Ground and first floors lit by 2-light flat-chamfered stone-mullioned casements some with timber lintels. All lights are rectangular leaded panes. Early plank door with cover strips at centre of C17 range. Service wing at rear of C16 range with gable end dovecote plank door to loft reached via stone steps with C20 balustrade below.
