17/358 Town Farmhouse
GV II
House, late C17 incorporating earlier fabric; rear wing c.1800 and alterations in later C19. Rubble with dressings, rendered to front; stone slate roof, stone and bricks stacks. Front 2 storeys, 4 slightly irregular bays. Renewed half-glazed double doors in bay 2, in moulded surround with flat-pointed head, hoodmould and initials W I on lintel. Half-glazed door in stop-chamfered surround, farther right. Late C19 4-pane sashes, that above the right door a larger stair window. Coped gables have moulded kneelers with finials; end stacks, that to left rebuilt in yellow brick on old base; one ridge stack. Right return shows blocked attic window. Rear wing shows flush-panelled door with 20-pane sash to left, and 16-pane 1st floor sash; coped gable with stepped stone stack.
Interior: C19 stair with closed strings, turned balusters and moulded handrail; at foot of stair 1 moulded corbel of former fireplace. Lintel of fireplace with flat-pointed moulded arch, re-set above fireplace in rear wing. Intact 1st-floor fireplace of similar type at east end. 5-bay upper-cruck roof at attic level, with collars, 2 levels of purlins and ridge.
