Early C19. [Former Subscription Library ? circa 1834]. Three storeys and 5 windows.
Elaborate ashlar front with giant pilasters standing on ground floor and flanking
end bays which break forward slightly. Entablature and large balustraded parapet.
Glazing bar sash windows with moulded architraves, pediments on 1st floor of end
bays, flat pediments over middle 3 windows (with brackets to central window).
Channelled ashlar ground floor, 2 Greek Doric columns in antis for central doorway,
steps to 6 panel door with rectangular light above containing glazing bass. Left
hand bay has recessed windows with scrolls to quarter pilasters. Right hand bay
has a semi-circular archway with voussoirs and prominent key. At least 2 rooms
inside have heavy ceiling cornices.
