Cottage. 1848 by F.O'Connor for National Co-operative Land Company, altered C20. Roughly squared stone on stone plinth, rendered quoins, slate roof. Three-room front, one room deep, leanto to rear, single storey. Mid C20 metal casements to front windows, in old openings; rendered surrounds to windows; stone voussoirs to flat arch. Garden front, centre room projects slightly: fully glazed metal door up 2 steps, under open porch, trellis sides, boarded gable. Single-light window each side; trefoil ventilator in gable. Plain bargeboards. Two-light casements in wings: plain timber eaves fascia. Gable and centre rear chimneys. Forms group with other Chartist cottages (q.v.); originally with 3 or 4 acre holding. Listed principally for sociological and historical reasons. (A.M.Hadfield, The Chartist Land Company, 1970.)
