GV II*

Farmhouse and attached barn. C16 - C17. Timber-frame complex with attached C17 barn, now garage, to north east. The house comprises: single storey east-west range with attic and attached chimney to north; 3 storey 'L' plan extension to east with chimney at Junction of 2 arms of the 'L'. All but 3 bay barn, which has brick nogging in regular square panels, are finished in roughcast. Tiled roofs; barn is pantiled. East-west range has 4 bays, raised gable to north-west, C19 entrance to north centre, random C19 casements to north and regular C20 casements to south. 'L' Block: 3 bays north-south, one east-west, more regular fenestration. Interior: circa 1700 dog-leg staircase with decorative plank balusters; roof principals, raised probably in C17. 'L' part has split tongue stop chamfers to beams in main east ground floor room. Barn: raking struts and one longitudinal purlin to collars; part of south wall inside formed by former external north wall of 'L' block: decorated jowled corner post bressummer and panels above. The complex forms a most picturesque agricultural group apart from special interest.
