Pair of semi detached houses. 1840's. By S Parker of Settle. Rendered, stone dressings, slate roof. No 1: central staircase plan. Two storeys, three bays. Right-hand entrance has plain surround, projecting impost block and plain lintel with rectangular fanlight above; four panel door. Two ground floor windows have moulded base to jambs, projecting sills and shaped lintel; six pane sashes. Upper floor sill band interrupted by central staircase windows, plain surround, projecting import blocks. and round head with pendant keystone; fixed light with radiating glazing. Left and right-hand upper floor window have plain surrounds, projecting sills; six pane sashes. Projecting quoins. Left-hand gable end ridge stack, and central ridge stack shared with No 2. No 2 is mirror image of No 1: two storeys, three bays. Left-hand entrance. Both houses are built into the hillside with three storeys, at the rear, a similar arrangement to Sutcliffe Buildings, Settle (q.v), also by Parker.
