6/58 Garden walls of Hartforth Hall

GV II

Garden wall. Probably late C18. For the Cradock family of Hartforth Hall (qv). Brick and rubble. Irregular quadrangle in plan, the 2 longer sides, those to north and south, having been heated. Brick walls to north, west and south have stone slate coping, and board doors in segmental-arched openings to north and south. The east walls are of rubble, with swept tops, and form an enclosure with workshops and bothies. In the north-east corner some glass houses remain.
