GV II

Cottage, later village stores, now converted back into cottage. Circa early C17. Stone rubble with large granite quoins. Painted on front elevation. Left hand gable end partly rebuilt. Slate roof with gable ends. End stone rubble stack on right, which became an axial stack when the school (qv Old School) was added on the right hand gable end. Plan: Probably 2 room and cross passage plan, the larger hall kitchen on right heated by gable end stack. It is uncertain whether the left hand room was unheated. Exterior: 2 storeys asymmetrical 2 window front. Ground floor with C19 2-light casement to left and 8-pane shop window to right with C20 glazed door near centre. Above C19 1-light casement to left and C19 2-light casement in granite frame of 2- light mullion window to right. Rear elevation with probable blocked door opening to right and 2 casements on first floor, one in the granite frame of a 2-light mullion window. Interior: not accessible. Picturesque setting on south side of village green with particularly unaltered and unspoilt front and rear elevations.
