Dean's Bridge

23.1.68

II

Bridge over Dean's Brook. Possibly late C15 origins; probably rebuilt in C18 or C19 and again partially rebuilt and widened C20. Slatestone rubble with granite coping to parapet walls. The bridge was formerly listed as having three round-headed arches. At the time of survey (November 1986), one round-headed arch survives on the upstream side, with slatestone arch ring. The downstream side has been completely rebuilt, with one concrete arch. The parapet walls are about 70 centimetres high and about 5 metres long, in slatestone rubble with roughly hewn granite coping. The bridge is about 5 metres wide and spans about 5 metres.
