Engine pond. 1825 for Stockton and Darlington railway. Circular pond, c.8
metres across, with rubble sandstone walls; small square recess on west side;
long curved channel on east towards waggonway. A rare surviving structure on
the northern section of the railway: the stationary engine at this site stood
at the summit of the South Etherley Inclines. Pool fed by stream to west.
