Details

LITTLE MARLOW CHURCH ROAD SU 88 NE 5/74 The Old Cottage (formerly listed as The Old Cottage immediately north of Wayside and Westover) 21.6.55 GV II House. Late C16, altered. Whitewashed roughcast, the upper storey with concealed timber framing. Old tile roof, large central brick chimney. 2 storeys, the upper storey jettied to front. 2 gabled bays, the right a cross-wing, with central gabled 2-storey porch projection. C20 leaded casements, 4-light to main bays have with the ground floor casements in canted bay windows. Porch projection is also jettied, and has old 2-light leaded casement to first floor, C20 door and C20 lean-to tiled verandah. Rear has catslide, possibly of later date, and C19 single-storey extension. C20 whitewashed brick extension set back to right. Interior: timber framing is visible in upper storey, and has some curved braces.
