7/18 No. 53 25/9/80

GV II

House and wing, now 2 separate dwellings. Early C18 house; C19 addition. Roughly-coursed and squared sandstone with ashlar dressings, plinth and quoins; Welsh slate roof with stone gable copings; brick addition with ashlar dressings and Welsh slate roof; stone and brick chimney. 2 storeys, 5 windows; addition of one high storey, one window.

Central Gothic-style door and margined overlight, probably early C19, in stone surround withpulvinated frieze and cornice. Flanking tripartite sashes, with glazing bars, wedge stone lintels and projecting stone sills, in sections marked by long butt joins, suggesting earlier alterations. 12-pane sashes above have similar lintels and sills.

Steeply-pitched roof has high gable copings, resting on curved kneelers, and end chimneys. Right addition has late C19 sash with flat stone lintel and projecting stone sill, under catslide roof with right end chimney.

Interior of main house shows left ground-floor room panelled, with dado rail, and round-headed cupboard with keyed architrave; dogleg stair with turned balusters, the lower balustrade reducing to meet the upper. Collared roof trusses.
