II
House. C17 with late C19 alterations. Limewashed rubble with boulder plinth, irregular quoins and ashlar dressings; stone-flagged roof with stone gable copings and brick and rendered chimneys. Probably originally gable-entry plan. 2 storeys, 4 bays with one-storey, one-bay set-back left extension and full height rear stair wing. South elevation has early C20 gabled porch flanked by jambs of blocked C17 window; late C19 sashes on both floors in outer bays have stone jambs, thin stone lintels and sills; 2 blocked cross windows in central first floor bays have mullions removed. Roof has cyma-moulded kneelers, banded chimneys, rendered at left end and renewed brick on rendered plinth at right end. Left extension, probably former porch,has wide inserted window, and front right C20 boiler housing below lintel, probably of former door. Returns of house have C17 attic windows, blocked in right return, in gable peaks; left return of former porch has boulder plinth. Gabled stair wing has four 2-light windows, with hollow chamfered surrounds, mullions in 2 blocked windows at right of stair, label moulds over some, and horizontal iron bars over small square window at right to stone beneath stair.
Interior shows boxed-in beams; open-well stair with shallow risers, renewed balusters, chamfered newels (one renewed), with ball finials and turned pendants; panelled cupboard in blocked stair window; renewed handrail.
Roof has 3 upper-cruck trusses, the central supporting lath and plaster partition; with collars and 2 levels of purlins, the lower on blocks and the upper trenched.
C20 rear porch in inner return of stair wing not of interest.
