4/28 Castle View, including garden walls at rear
GV II
House in row and garden walls at rear. Circa late C18. Elvan ashlar. Scantle slate roof with brick chimneys over the gable ends. Projecting eaves at the front. Plan: double-depth plan with service range at right angles to the rear right. Large reception room, left, and entrance/stair hall right. Very deep 2-storey C18 wing at right angles to rear. Exterior : 3 storeys. Slightly asymmetrical 2 window south front. Plinth, mid floor strings, modillioned cornice over shaped fascia board. Doorway right with 6-panel door with fielded panels, overlight and simple doorcase. Flat arches with projecting keystones to original ground floor openings. First and second floor openings remodelled and fitted with 3-light canted bay windows, circa late C19 or early C20. Horned sashes without glazing bars. Little altered at rear. Interior not inspected. Flanking a narrow but long garden at the rear are C18 buttressed brick walls laid to Flemish bond, one wall has a roll moulded coping.
