NZ 22 SE GREAT AYCLIFFE SCHOOL AYCLIFFE LANE (North side) 10/19 Nurses' Teaching Centre, wall and gate-piers

House with garden wall attached to north-west and gates and gate-piers attached to south-east. Pebble-dashed masonry; rubble sandstone wall and iron gates. Villa dated 1835 on right rainwater head; mid C19 gates and piers. 2 storeys, 5 bays with low plinth. Central 6-panel door, with 3-pane side lights and overlight with patterned radial glazing, in pedimented Tuscan porch. 12-pane sashes with projecting sills; slightly-elongated windows to ground floor and blocked window above porch. Tall parapet, with band and flat coping, conceals low-pitched roof. Set-back addition to right has elliptical carriage arch, parallel bands above and conceals lean-to additions to right return. Large 24-pane stair window to rear. Interior has several 6-panel doors in architraves with angle paterae. High wall, to north-west, runs west for c.40 metres and has flat coping. Square-plan gate-piers with low pyramidal caps; pair of gates with alternating standards and dogbars and square principals with urn finials.
