2/167 2 headstones at approx 43m east of
All Hallows Church of Saint Kea

GV II

2 headstones. North stone, 1827, to John Rowling, by W. Pearce of Truro and south
stone, 1827 to Ann, the daughter of Mary Ann Bray. Both inscribed slate monoliths
with shaped heads and incised fat face lettering to west sides.
North stone has cavetto and torus moulded corners and 2-centred equalateral arched
head and inscription to John Rowling, died 1827 aged 1729.
South stone has concave corners and segmental arched head and inscription to ANN, the
daughter of WILLIAM, and MARY ANN BRAY who died 6th JAN 1827 Aged 8 Years and 4
Months.
The present church, of 1896, replaces a church of 1802 designed by James Wyatt, and
the churchyard dates from then. Very few tomb monuments survive at the earlier
church at Old Kea; so the earlier C19 churchyard monuments in this churchyard, though
modest architecturally, are historically important for this parish.
