LACH DENNIS C.P. PENNY'S LANE SJ 77 SW 2/17 Yew Tree Farm House GV II
Farmhouse of late C17 origins but early C19 appearance. Brown brick in Flemish Bond with slate roof. 2 storeys, attic and basement. 3 bays. Six-panel door, in heavy frame fronted by pitched-roof hood with barge boards and finial, supported by shaped brackets on timber corbels. Recessed sashes, mainly in pairs with turned mullions fronting central weight boxes, stone sills and flat arches. Moulded eaves gutter on ornamental brackets. Stone gable copings with kneelers and gable end stacks. Two rear wings (north) complete an 'F' shaped plan. interior: Six-panel doors and wide boarded doors, one on strap hinges. Chamfered beams and exposed ceiling joist. C19 doglog staircase with flat balusters, rectangular newels and deep handrail. At first floor level wide-boarded doors on HL hinges, all beams cased in plaster. In the attic there are wide boarded doors, original purlins and rafters jointed without a ridge in late Cl7 style.
