Details
NORTH PETHERWIN SX 29 SE 4/79 Tascott Farmhouse - II
Farmhouse. Circa late C16 or early C17 origins, extended in mid to late C19. Rendered stone rubble and cob with local stone rubble circa C19 extension. Slate and rag slate roofs with lower roof on right and higher roof on left. Projecting stone rubble front lateral hall stack. Plan: Original house probably of 3-room and through passage plan, the hall on the higher right hand side heated by a front lateral stack and the inner room, which was possibly unheated, beyond. In circa mid to late C19 the lower end was demolished and replaced by an extension of probably 2-room double depth plan. Exterior: 2 storeys. 2:1 window front with regular 2-window front to taller C19 range on left with brick dressings; 4-pane sash to left and plank door to right with two 4-pane sashes on first floor. Lower circa C17 range on right has a 2-light casement and dairy window to right. 2-light casement on first floor. C20 lean-to extensions to rear. Interior: Not accessible at time of survey. Although many of the earlier features appear to be covered over it is possible that early features may still survive which would help to date the farmhouse more accurately.
