Details

2. Gable end to street with heavily pointed rubble extension. Main front faces north-west. Earlier house rebuilt in early C18 and extended later in the century. 2 storey 5 window front, brick with stone quoins, band over ground floor, plinth and part of moulded eaves cornice - the other part is similar but wooden, over the later half of the front. The early C18 front was 3 windows wide. and the 2 window mid C18 extension was carefully matched, apart from quoins of painted brick. The quoins of the former house were left in the centre of the new elevation. Thatched roof replaced by tiles at that time. Near flush framed glazing bar sash windows, one blocked, under flat arches. Ground floor has 2 three light bay windows with dentil cornice over reel moulding. Pilastered doorway below 2nd window from right - its cornice is extended to right hand window and further to right. The door has 6 raised and fielded panels. The elevation to the street has an attic window in the gable of the main part of the house and a lower gable in the rubble 2 window extension of 2 storeys to the left (former stables converted and heightened). Shallow open pediment over doorcase, flanked by glazing bar sash windows. Further slate roofed extension, with coach entrance, to south-east. The interior has a fine panelled room on the ground floor.
No 22 Horsefair Green forms a group with Burnham House and No 34 Silver Street.
