ST ERTH SW 5435-5535 13/209 Granary and stables immediately - north of Trelissick Farmhouse
II Granary and adjoining stables. Circa early C19. Granary has slatehanging on studwork to 2 walls and has hipped grouted scantle slate roof. Stables have rubble walls with granite dressings; half-hipped grouted scantle slate roof over higher end and corrugated asbestos at other end. Plan: Overall irregular T-shaped plan. Rectangular granary added to rear has very thick entrance wall (west) integral with west wall of farmhouse (qv) and pre-dating the later C17 remodelling; steps up to doorway. North wall is rear wall of stables. Other walls and floor of granary is carried on staddle stones with brick shafts. Stables have 2 carriage doorways and large loading doorways to hay lofts over. Exterior: 2-storeys. North front of stables has nearly symmetrical 2 window front, left and lower front, right, with no first floor windows, and pigeon holes under the eaves. Wide first floor loading doorways near the middle of each front. Wide carriage doorways, far left and under right-hand loading doorway; small doorway far right of taller block and towards right, large windows between doorways. Old windows with glazing bars. First floor windows have shutters and top lights. Ledged and braced doors. Granary has 2 louvred windows. Interior: of granary has original floor and roof structure, otherwise interior not inspected.
