5/21 Mount Pleasant Farmhouse and adjoining flanking walls -

Farmhouse and adjoining flanking walls. Late C18, for William Richardson: with later C19 and C20 alterations. House: coursed limestone rubble with red brick dressings. Slate roof with yellow brick stacks. Wall: coursed limestone rubble with brick dressings and ashlar coping. House: double-pile plan. 2 storeys, 5 bays; symmetrical. Stone steps to central projecting stuccoed porch with glazed door and overlight in recessed surround beneath moulded cornice. Flanked by canted bay windows with sashes with glazing bars, and 8-pane sashes in flush wooden architraves. 12-pane flush sashes to first floor. All sashes have stucco cambered arches, cills and brick surrounds. Plain eaves board. Late C19 hipped roof, axial stacks. Flanking walls adjoining rear of left and right returns. 5 bays each, symmetrical, with alternate narrow and wide round-headed reccesses, 1 narrow opening on the left with a plank door, 3 others blocked. House forms a prominent feature in the landscape. Interior of no special interest.
