WIMBOLDSLEY C.P. (Off) NANTWICH ROAD SJ 66 SE 8/91 Barn c.15 yards to west of Twelve Acres Farmhouse. - - II* Barn, now used as livestock pens and storage building. Early Cl7, altered. Timber-framed with rendered infill and English garden wall bond brick with slate roof. Two storeys originally single-storeyed. North front: C19 brick of 5 bays divided by pilaster buttresses with clasping buttresses to the corners. Central bay has C20 double doors to ground floor with cement lintel and 3-light cambered-headed casement window above. To either side are cambered-headed ground floor stable doors with C20 cement-linteled windows to either side with cambered-headed loft doors above to centre of each bay with diamond pattern breathers to each side. To right is a cambered-headed door with 3 diamond pattern breathers to first floor and to left is a C20 sliding door with cement lintel. Single diamond pattern breather to right and three similar at first floor level. Left hand reveal has clasping buttresses at corners. Stable door at left and C20 metal framed window to right. Timber framing above to centre with two central loft doors, one above the other. Lean-to to left with cambered-headed door at right and C20 window to left. Rear: central gabled projection with cambered-headed door at right and loft door to centre above. Jowled posts to corners and small framing to sides with angle braces. To either side are lean-tos, each with 2 stable doors. Interior: 4 sets of base crucks which rise to die with the principals and have tie, collar and yokes with small framed infill. The rear wall backing onto the rear outshuts has 8 x 3 cells of small framing to either side of the central gabled projection with middle posts to each of the lower two ranges of cells and angle braces to the top row of cells. The outshut roofs have ties with 2 angle braces each and there is one jowled post at the left.
