House in row. Circa very early C18. Shale rubble, mostly with slatehanging and render to ground floor, front. Slate sills. Steep asbestos slate roof with brick chimneys over gable ends with external breast to right-hand gable end, now mostly enclosed by circa 1820's house on right. Projecting box in eaves to front, possibly obscuring C18 cornice. Plan of large parlour on left and small parlour on right with wide passage between leading to original 3-storey gable-ended stair turret projection flanked by later rear service rooms in 2-storey outshut, left, and lean-to on right, now part of Newquay House qv, right. 3 storeys. Regular 4-window west road front with circa late C19 12-pane horned sashes. Doorway to third from left ground floor opening. Circa early C19 6-panel door with over light set back within wooden doorcase with low pitched gabled and eared cornice. Interior retains most of its original carpentry and joinery including: 2-panel doors with HL hinges and architraves to most rooms; dog leg stair with closed string, widely spaced turned column balusters, and moulded handrail, square newel posts and turned caps with mahogany graining. Large parlour, left, has particularly good features of bolection moulded wooden chimney piece with pilaster caps of overmantle breaking forward from moulded ceiling cornice, framing fine torus moulded ceiling with inner oval, and ogee shaped corners to outer moulding. Panelled door tocupboard on left of fireplace with basket arched tympanum. First floor right-hand chamber has similar chimney piece and moulded ceiling cornice. An imposing house, very conspicuous when seen across the river from Falmouth, and with a fine C18 interior.
