8/27 Infants School -

GV II

Infant, Day and Sunday School. 1837 on plaque, extended 1875. Dressed limestone with yellow brick dressings. Slate roof. Tudor style. L-shaped on plan, with classroom range extending to rear. Single storey with attic, irregular fenestration, asymmetrical front. Plinth. Entrance to left of centre with stone steps and double-chamfered Tudor-arched brick surround. Door boarded-up at time of re-survey. Diamond-shaped stone plaque above with inscribed shield. Single-light casement to left, and 3-light brick- mullioned boarded-up window to right with single-light half-dormer above. All windows have double-chamfered brick surrounds. Stepped brick kneelers and stone-coped gables to dormer and roof. Lateral stack to rear. Single light attic window to left return. Single-storey rear wing, of 5 bays, in similar materials, with 2 doors (one in later rendered porch), and 3- and 2-light mullioned windows. Empty and disused at time of re-survey.
