Details
HOLMPTON RYSOME LANE TA 32 SE (south side) 8/17 Rysome Garth - II
Farmhouse. Late C18 - early C19. Red brick with pantile roof. Double- range plan with 2-room, central entrance-hall north and south fronts. 2 storeys with attic, symmetrical twin-gabled 3-bay fronts. South front: C20 glazed door and plain overlight beneath stucco flat arch, flanked by tripartite ground-floor plate-glass sashes. Central plain recessed circular panel in rubbed-brick surround to first floor, flanked by 4-pane sashes in flush wooden architraves. Unequal 12-pane attic sash window to left, C20 casement to right. All windows with sills and stucco flat arches. Pairs of wrought-iron tie-bar ends to stone-coped gables with shaped kneelers. Corniced axial ridge stacks. North front is similar, but with 16-pane sashes to ground-floor, 12-pane sashes and central casement to first floor, and 12-pane attic sashes, that to left a painted dummy. Interior: open well staircase with corniced handrail and slender column-on-vase balusters with square knops; not fully investigated. Stands on the moated site of a medieval manor house.
