PROBUS PROBUS SW 84 SE 4/87 Glebe House (Formerly known as - 'The Sanctuary' and 'The Old Rectory') - II

Rectory, now house. 1839 by George Wightwick. Stucco with Delabole slate gabled roof with axial, lateral and gable chimneys. Single depth spine and wings to west and east. Tudor Gothic style 2 storey west elevation has gable wing:bay:gable porch:bay and slightly projecting gable. Continuous plinth. Left wing has bay window with slate roof, flat headed first floor window with hood mould and recessed trefoil in gable. Central storeyed porch has 4-centred arched doorway with hood mould, a pointed arched window with hood mould over. Engaged octagonal gable chimney is possibly cast iron. Bays flanking porch have narrow windows with hoodmoulds to ground floor ones. Right bay has French windows with square fanlights and hood mould over this and narrower first floor window. Recessed trefoil over. Corners are splayed with pendant stops under kneeler corbels. East elevation has slightly projecting gable bay, wide windowed bay, stair bay and single storey (one storey removed) service wing. Interior has vaulted corridors behind porch to ground and first floors, original stairs with chamfered square newels and balusters, original panelled doors and some good ceiling cornices.
