Details
ILLOGAN CHURCHTOWN ROAD SW 64 SE 10/192 (south side) Churchtown Gatepiers, gates, and railings at north entrance to churchyard of Church of St Illogan GV II Gatepiers, gates, and railings. Dressed granite with cast-iron railings and gates, and wrought-iron lamp arch. Probably mid to later C19. Set of 4 plain granite posts approx. 2½ metres high with rounded tops to all faces; the central pair, which are widely spaced, carry a 4-centred arch of wrought iron supporting a central pendent lamp with a scroll on each side and a finial on top. The gates and the railings to each side, which are mounted on a low chamfered plinth, are in Gothick style, with slender shaft bars which have spear and trident tops alternately, trefoil-headed panels, and low dog-bars.
