House and smithy. Mid C19 with earlier origins, for the Sheffield Estate. Red brick, with side and rear walls of shoeing shop in coursed ironstone rubble; pantile roofs. House: 2 storeys, 3 bays, lower single-bay kitchen section to left, and a longer lower section to right containing the forge and shoeing shop. House: central plank door with two 12-pane sliding sashes to left, 1 to right and similar windows above, all with stone cills. Forge to right has plank stable door and large workshop casement with vertical glazing bars. Former shoeing shop has double plank doors. All ground floor openings have segmental brick arches. 2 attic sliding sashes to left gable, and plank door to attic of shoeing shop in right gable. Interior of shoeing shop contains re- used C15 moulded ceiling beam, other re-used beams in house are recent insertions. The forge is complete and in use. A fine example of an unaltered purpose-built village forge and smith's house.
