KIRK ELLA BEVERLEY ROAD TA 02 NW (west side) 9/35 Stable block at Wolfreton House 31.1.67 GV II

Stable block. Late C18. White brick, stone dressings, graduated slate roof. Main range of 2 storeys, 6-window front; the centre bay break forward under low pediment. Lower single bay flanking wings under lean-to roofs. Plinth. Centre bays: blocked door under wedge lintel beneath oculus with crossed glazing bars. To right and left are glazed and panelled doors with overlights with vertical glazing bars under cambered wedge lintels. 6- pane sashes, with sills under cambered wedge lintels to ends. First floor: pair of oculi with crossed glazing bars to centre bays: two 6-pane sashes with sills under cambered wedge lintels to right and left. Stone copings and kneelers to pediment. Hipped roof. Cupola with round-headed lights with wooden Y-tracery punctuated by attached Tuscan colonettes supporting a cornice, a lead dome, a ball finial, and a weather-vane. Right wing has a 6-pane sash with sill under flat lintel. To left wing: double-leaf boarded doors to carriage entrance under fanlight with vertical glazing bars. Segmental brick arch.
