HESSLE JENNY BROUGH LANE TA 02 NW (east side) 9/73 Hessle Mount - II
House, now a school. c1800. White brick, brick and stone dressings, slate roofs. Original range of 2 storeys, 5 bays, with later extensions to right. Centre 3 bays break forward slightly under low pediment with shell ornament. C19 ashlar porch with round-headed keyed arch flanked by fluted pilasters supporting Doric entablature. To right, 2 sashes with sill band and glazing bars under cambered wedge lintels. To left, two C20 replacement windows with glazing bars. First-floor band and sill band: 5 sashes with glazing bars under cambered wedge lintels. Moulded eaves and raked cornices. Hipped roof, end stacks. Extension to right is of 3 bays to ground floor, single bay, (adjoining house), to first floor. Ground floor: French window to left, two C20 replacement windows with glazing bars to right, all under cambered wedge lintels. Moulded band, hipped roof to right. Sill band and sash with glazing bars under cambered wedge lintel to first floor. Interior: the ground-floor room to the left retains a moulded plaster frieze and cornice but few other original fittings have survived.
