WERRINGTON SX 38 NW 9/308 Carriage house and stables to south - east of The Vicarage

GV II

Carriage house and stables. Probably 1836, coeval with the vicarage (qv). Stone rubble. Slate roof with half hipped ends on left and lower roof to right with half- hipped ends to front and to right. Plan: Rectangular plan. Stables in left hand range with entrance on right and loft above. Lower range on right with tack room near centre and carriage house which is set slightly forward to right, thereby forming an overall 'L' shaped plan. Exterior: Two storey range on left and single storey range on right, the carriage house to right set slightly forward with circa early C20 plank double doors. The tack room near the centre is lit by a tall window with glazing bars. To left, the entrance to the stables has a dressed stone flat arch with a C19 mullion and transom window to left and plank door to loft above. Interior: Remains of stalls in stables.
