5/298 Denham Mount
23.9.55 II Early C19 rustic villa. Built to the designs of Robert Lugar (1773-1855) and completed before 1823 (Colvin). Colourwashed stucco; hipped Welsh slate roof, eaves cornice with paired brackets. Entrance front, central polygonal bay. First floor with French window on to cast iron balcony on paired brackets. Cornice to roof of bay slightly higher than rest, with panelled frieze and band. Left-hand bay pedimented and with ground floor casement with consoles and cornice; right-hand bay a mid-C19 polygonal projection with first floor cast iron balcony on brackets. Left-hand return has ground floor open veranda with wood lath-faced columns. Ground floor French windows; first floor case- ments. On left, a bow window with 3 curved windows, frames, and glazing bars with chamfered corners. South front continuation of verandah; central 2 storey window bay with pediment ground floor, additional splayed bay. Mid C19 wing of 3 storeys masked on ground floor by conservatory. On roof, open timber bell turret with weathercock. Interior, good early C19 detail including cast iron railing to stairs.
