Details
PETERSMARLAND SS 41 SE 4/27 Lower Stone - - II Farmhouse. Late C17 or early C18 with C19 and C20 additions. Rubble and cob walls partly rendered. Gable-ended corrugated asbestos roof. Brick stack at each gable- end. Plan: 2 principal heated rooms - one at each end - with central axial passage running in front of a small service room with adjoining staircase - C19 and C20 rear lean-tos added. Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 4-window front of late C18 or early C19 casements with H-L hinges of 1,2,3 and 4 lights. C20 lean-to porch towards right- hand end with part-glazed door. C19 and C20 rear lean-tos extend along rear wall. Interior: most features have been covered up but 1 chamfered ceiling beam is visible above a partition. Despite not exhibiting many internal features this house preserves its interesting plan form and a traditional external appearance.
