Details
SHOBROOKE PENNICOTT SS 80 SE 2/80 Pennicott Cottage - - II
House, formerly small farmhouse. Late C16 - early C17, and cob stacks, topped with C19 brick; thatched roof hipped each end. Altered 3-room and through passage plan with inner room to east (left of front). 2-storeys. Stone stack projecting to rear of hall. 2 window front to road between large projecting stack to service room on right and projecting stair turret towards left. Right-hand window is in position of original passage door (opposite door in rear wall). Timber window frames on rear of varying patterns, all with glazing bars and small panes. Interior. Hall has C16 stone fireplace with chamfered oak lintel with step stops and step-stopped cross beam. Roof carried on 2 original closed trusses and framing exposed in roofspace. Hipped ends probably of C19 fabric.
