1/346 Tolcarne Wartha Farmhouse, - including front garden walls and adjoining outbuilding
GV II
Farmhouse, front garden walls and adjoining outbuilding. Early C19. Painted rubble walls. Grouted scantle slate hipped roof with projecting eaves. Brick chimeys over the side walls. Cast-iron ogee gutters. Plan: Double depth plan with 2 rooms at the front (kitchen/living room on the right, parlour on the left) flanking entrance hall leading to rear stair hall with 2 storey back kitchen outshut on the right and single storey lean-to washhouse on the left which adjoins domestic outbuilding. Exterior: 2 storeys. Nearly symmetrical 3 window south front with central doorway. Original doors and windows (front and rear) except for ground floor right-hand window which has later remodelled opening and C20 4-pane horned sash. 4-panel door, 16-pane hornless sashes. Rear has ledged doors, 18-pane horizontally-sliding sash to back kitchen, similar 12- pane window to chamber over and tall round-headed stair sash with intersecting glazing bars. Interior: Unaltered interior with most of its original features including dog-leg stair and panelled doors. There is a C18 2-panel door which may be re-used. Front garden walls are built of large pieces of granite moorstone and there are monolithic jambs to a gateway adjoining the house. There is a pavement of granite moorstone flags at the back of the house and there are cobbled yards adjoining.
